XV. In prayer, I see the loving Mother very close to my right side. Sometimes I rest in her arms or on her lap, and with a delightful, tender, innocent, yet fervent feeling of love, sometimes with a certain intensity and joy of heart and other intense activities and tasks, as a very loving daughter would. But this can easily be moderated when it is not supported.
She instructs me very clearly and distinctly on how to behave in God's presence, so that I do nothing to hinder my immediate possession and enjoyment of God himself, namely, that within my soul (fundo), I should not allow or endure anything that is not purely from God or from her.
However, this perception of the loving Mother, the gaze and attention on her sometimes fades and disappears. Just as a child who falls asleep on its mother's lap or at her breast loses the awareness of her and the memory of her, so my soul, with a loving and intimate attachment to God himself in complete tranquility and concentration of all mental faculties, falls into a sleep of love, in which it loses all discrimination and its own attention to anything, even to the loving Mother, fixed on this divine One, absorbed in it and lovingly asleep in it.
