An important and very encouraging note: the effort we put in when we strive for a close relationship with God is a sign that God truly wants to give us His friendship. Be assured of this, for even this striving is a gift from God. Every step we take is proof that God has already prepared our way. Every act of will by which we choose to connect with God is a sign that we have received this privilege from God.
