I admit that at the beginning, when God begins to bestow these graces, the soul is not that strong. (…) But when the soul becomes so closely united with Mercy itself, in whose light it recognizes its own nothingness and how much has been forgiven to it, I cannot believe that it would be incapable of forgiving those who have wronged it. Because it recognizes the gifts and graces with which it has been endowed, and sees clear signs of His great love for it, it rejoices that it can at least prove its love in some way.
