International Novitiate in Salamanca

International Novitiate in Salamanca

Dear brothers and sisters,

On Sunday, September 17, 2017, the feast of St. Albert of Jerusalem, a new course of the international Carmelite novitiate began in Salamanca, Spain.

The group of six novices consists of: Fernando from Spain, Alvaro and Joel from Venezuela, Yeuris and Jean Luis from the Dominican Republic, and Norbert Smeja from the Czech Republic. The entrance ceremony took place in a festive yet simple and sober atmosphere during the Sunday Mass at the St. Andrew's monastery in Salamanca, presided over by the provincial of the Aragonese, Castilian, and Valencian province, Fr. Desiderio García Martínez. Also concelebrating were: the Catalan provincial Fr. Luis Maza Subero, the representative of the Czech-Moravian General Delegation of the Order of Carmelites Fr. Norbert Žuška, Fr. Terrence Cyr from the PCM province (USA), as well as members of the formation team.

We entrust our novice beginning to your prayers and will accompany them on their journey up Mount Carmel, which represents a lifelong process during which we are invited to "live in the following of Jesus Christ" "in Mary's house" and to serve God's people.

With brotherly greetings

Fr. Desiderio García, O.Carm.
