Can you save the whole world?

O love, unspeakable love,
if, in the time when man was the tree of death,
you changed him into the tree of life by
grafting yourself onto man, you, life…
if you did this, then you can now
save the whole world that cannot graft itself onto you.
(…)

I have sinned, Lord, have mercy on me.
O eternal truth, unite with those,
graft onto yourself those whom you have given me
and whom I love with a special love,
that they may bear fruits of life.

(Catherine of Siena /1347–1380/, prayers 20)
