God's mercy takes the place of human evil.

Little brother,
when you celebrate the holy mass,
in which human drama turns into hope for salvation
and where God's mercy takes the place of human evil,
remember the Son of God,
whom you will visibly represent
and who will be closely connected with you,
to raise your worth in the eyes of His Father,
because a friend is happy to elevate his friend.

(Father Jerome /1907–1985/, monk of the Trappist monastery in Sept-Fons,
a note addressed to the brother preparing for priesthood, spring 1971)
