We must not allow ourselves to be intimidated by our own misery.

We must not allow ourselves to be intimidated by our own wretchedness. God keeps it at the bottom of our hearts as a kind of spur, so that we may be before Him like beggars, but beggars who are absolutely certain of His love and that He is guiding us along those difficult paths to what is best for us.
