Joy does not stand in opposition to compassion.

The joy of the risen Christ does not want to make us insensitive to the suffering of others. On the contrary, it wants us to be even more sensitive and to carry within us that great joy while deeply engaging with the suffering and distress of our neighbor. There is no contradiction in this: joy does not stand against compassion. In fact, I would say it sustains it.
