With empty hands

At the evening of this life, I will stand before you with empty hands, for I do not ask you, Lord, to count my deeds. All our righteousness is stained in your eyes. Therefore, I want to clothe myself in your own righteousness and to accept from your love for all eternity you yourself.

(Thérèse of Lisieux, excerpt from the Act of Offering to Merciful Love, June 1895)
