To place all hopes and fears into his hands.

Being a child of God means holding God's hand and doing His will, not your own. It means placing all hopes and worries into His hands and ceasing to worry about your own future. It is from such a stance that a child of God draws peace and joy. Yet, most truly devout and even courageous people willing to make sacrifices lack this peace and joy… They may know the parable of the heavenly birds and the field lilies, but whenever they encounter a person without means, without a steady income or insurance, who is not worried about the future, they shake their heads in astonishment.
