Jesus and the Mission of the Carmelite Nun

Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity:
Excerpt from a letter [L 256]
to Canon Angles from December 1905.

“To renew everything in Christ”

… How noble is the mission of a Carmelite! She must be a mediator along with Jesus Christ, she must be another humanity in which He can constantly live His life of reconciliation, sacrifice, praise, and adoration.

O, pray to Him that I may fulfill my calling and that I may not abuse the graces with which He generously surrounds me. If only you knew what fear this thought sometimes brings me… Then I throw myself into Him, whom Saint John calls “Faithful, True,” and I ask Him to be my faithfulness!

Anna Zelíková: (September 13, 1940)

I would like to teach everyone to love Jesus. I want to tell everyone how good He is, that whoever rests in His embrace finds true happiness. Even when suffering, one is happy. I am sure that the more secretly the life of a little Carmelite flows, the more she will be able to sacrifice, for being unknown and misunderstood, she will be stripped of herself every moment. I believe that Jesus will help me, that He will allow me to live here truly strictly. I am sure that it is possible to be a Carmelite even outside Carmel. I will completely give myself to Him for consumption. Only he who is holy can sanctify others. I want to be holy, I want to help others. I do not desire anything for myself, but I long to have much for others. Jesus – Love will accomplish everything.
