Elizabeth of the Trinity (1880–1906)
My little sister Germain of the Most Holy Trinity (1),
(...) hear all that she sings in her soul, in her heart. He is love, the infinite Love that embraces us and wants to now connect us to all his blessings.
It is the entire Trinity that dwells in us, and this whole mystery will become our life in heaven: may it be your monastery. My little sister, it fills me with joy that you are living life this way: mine is the same. I am Elizabeth of the Most Holy Trinity – Elizabeth, who gets lost in it and allows herself to be consumed by it. Do you see how close we are, how we blend together? From morning to evening I do everything with you and consider you a true sister of my soul. I entrust you to all the saints, especially to our holy Mother Teresa and Sister Teresa of the Child Jesus.
Yes, my little Germain, let us live from love, let us be simple like her, always in surrender and self-sacrifice at every moment by doing the will of the good God without seeking extraordinary things. And let us become small, let ourselves be carried like a child in the arms of its mother, by him who is our Everything. Yes, my sister, we are so wretched, I would even say that we are pure wretchedness itself, but he knows this well and loves to forgive us, lifts us up, and draws us to himself in his purity and infinite holiness: truly, it is through constant communion and divine touches (2) that he cleanses us. He wants us to be very pure, he himself will be our purity. We must let ourselves be transformed into his image, with great trust, by loving in every moment with the love that establishes unity among those who love each other!
I too want to be, Germain, holy, to bring him happiness. Ask him that I live for nothing else but love, “that is my vocation.” And then let us unite to transform our days into a continuous holy communion. In the morning let us awaken in Love, throughout the day let us surrender to Love in fulfilling the will of the good God and under his gaze, with him, in him, and for him. Let us give ourselves entirely as he wishes. You by dedicating yourself to your dear parents and being their joy. When the evening comes after a conversation of love, which never ceases in our hearts, let us fall asleep always in Love. Perhaps we will experience imperfections and infidelities. Then let us surrender to Love: she is the consuming fire. Thus let us experience our purgatory in his Love! (...)
Embrace your dear mother for me and tell her that I love her as my own mother. Tell Yvonne that she is also my sister and that I pray for her and Mr. de Gemeaux every day. You, my little Germain, I will never abandon. Trust me, together with your older sister you are already Carmelites.
