Prayer of Identification with Jesus

St. Mary Magdalene de’ Pazzi

When Mary Magdalene received the grace of the imprinting of invisible stigmas on her body,1 she uttered a prayer in Latin2 through which she placed her members into Jesus' members and her mental faculties into Jesus' mental faculties. According to the testimonies of the sisters who were present, Magdalene lingered in silence each time after mentioning the individual members and individual mental faculties and then slowly, calmly uttered another thought, with pathos and so emphatically that "it seemed as if she was in Jesus' school." The sisters also mentioned that even though the whole event lasted five hours, they felt as if it were just a moment because they felt like they were in paradise.

“My eyes to the eyes of your mercy…
My ears to your ears, so that they may stretch to the voice of my Bridegroom and understand him…
My mouth to your mouth, so that my mouth may utter what my Bridegroom speaks to me.
My breast [may it be] in your breast, my beloved; [which is] the breast of understanding and wisdom, which are incomprehensible to creatures…
My hands not to your hands, but in the cave of my Bridegroom, so that they may partake in your work…
My belly in your belly, so that it may be present and participate in the work of ordering that love performs in the wine chamber.
3
“Let my whole body [be] in every member of the substance of your eternity.”

When she said what we have stated, she remained in silence for a long time; then she said: “It would be of no use that I have placed my members into you, if there were no [participating] inner self. Therefore [let it be]:

My memory in the memory of the kindness of the Blood of your Word, for the redemption of all believers…
My understanding [may belong] not to the comprehension of your equality
4 but to the understanding of the descent of your Word…
My will [may it be] in the will of your Word, so that my will may be conformed to the will of your Word, which is so conformed to your will, highest Father, as its equality is conformed to the eternity of your Trinity…

Oh, equality, …
My desire may thirst and be satisfied by the salvation of all mankind…
My inflamed [will] may move according to the movement of the Spirit of your goodness. Let it move, [only] if you give it full permission.
My faith may rest in the certainty of what you know about yourself.
My hope may be sure and confirmed in eternity…
[My] love may spread and find pleasure in your greatness, because you are in all. Let it spread and draw me to you; I speak of myself, because all are in me… and I in all.”
