When it comes to the Eucharist, it may help you to say this (it can also be during moments when you feel dryness in prayer): “Lord God, I receive you, not for myself, for I am nothing here, but for all those who thirst for you in the world, even if they may not know it.” And then we step aside and pray the Our Father, that God may awaken a love for Himself in others and accomplish what we cannot. For at that moment, Jesus might say to you: “I could flood your soul with the ray of my love. Will you allow me to send that ray to others who wander in the world?” And this may cause you to yearn for such holy communion, during which we feel the greatest dryness.
