I have only words, for I cannot do any more!

As far as I'm concerned, Lord, I long to please You. Behold, I am here, Lord. If it is necessary to live further to serve You in some way, I do not flee from any earthly suffering that may come upon me, as Your lover, Saint Martin, declared.
However, oh, what pain, what pain for me, Lord, for he had deeds and I have only words, since I cannot do more! But may these my mere longings mean something before Your divine majesty. And please, do not pay attention to my insufficient merits. May we all deserve to love You, Lord.

(Teresa of Jesus, Exclamation of the Soul to God, 15,2.3)
