You force your Father to listen to us.

Son of God and my Lord, how much good You give us in the first word of the Our Father! You lower Yourself so deeply that You join our pleas and become a brother to such poor and base creatures. Because You want Your Father to regard us as His sons, You give us all that You can; and since Your word cannot pass away, You compel Your Father to hear us. And this is not a trifling matter for Him, for because of this He must endure us, despite our heavy sins, forgive us whenever we return to Him like the prodigal son, comfort us in our suffering, and take care that we have what we need to live, as befits a good Father, surpassing in kindness all fathers in the world like One who is supreme perfection; and finally make us His heirs and grant us a share in all His wealth.
