Does God's will require us to sacrifice our happiness?

There is no conflict between our vocation and the development of our personality. Sometimes – especially in moments when we lose courage – we are tempted by the thought that we must choose between our happiness and God's will, that God's will requires us to sacrifice our happiness. However, God's glory and the development of our personality are absolutely inseparable. (…)
If God created us and called us to His glory, there can be no real conflict between our vocation and its fulfillment, between God's will, God's intention for us, and our interests. (…) As Saint Irenaeus says, God's glory is "the living man," that is, a person who lives from God. A saint is a person who is truly alive. Origen declared: "The saints are alive, and the alive are saints." Holiness means life in its fullness.
This means that God's glory is realized, among other things, through the development of all the possibilities that God has placed in our hearts. Therefore, God's glory and our fulfillment are inseparable.
